I was so thrilled to have the unexpected opportunity to fly to Pittsburgh last weekend and visit with Delilah. We had not seen each other in eight years, and she has now a lovely daughter whom I finally got to meet.
Delilah is a true angel in my life. When I moved to NYC fourteen years ago, I did so by the seat of my pants so to speak. I had no idea what I was doing other than following my dream to live there. Delilah was a friend of a friend and she had never met me, yet she graciously took me under her wing. She put me up at her place for my first few weeks in the city, which was the most uncertain and frightening time of my life. She got me my first job as a hostess at the restaurant she worked at. She introduced me to her family and treated me like an old friend. I will always have a huge place in my heart for her incredible generosity during a time when I so needed someone to lift me up.
We had a wonderful reunion and I truly enjoyed being a part of and seeing first hand some of the amazing opportunities that have been presenting themselves into her life as of late. She is an incredible friend and I am so blessed that we were brought together.
